Legacy

A hero needing costume new;

A broken man in pew;

A psycho seeking blood and pain;

Ex-wife under which slain.

A bastard child of follicle fear;

A bastard child of shear;

A bastard child of immense strength;

A bastard child of length;

A bastard child of caustic spite;

A tetrad child of Right.

Grandchild of promise great and true;

Imposter that fell through;

A monster of insatiable vore;

A broken man no more;

A soldier given second chance;

A doctor now enhanced.

Edit (3-16-12): For clarity, here is a list of the hosts/symbiotes in the poem's order:
-Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
-Venom (Edward Brock)
-Carnage (Cletus Kasady)
-She-Venom (Ann Weying)
-Scream (Donna Diego)
-Phage/Rampage (Carl Mach)
-Riot (Trevor Cole)
-Lasher (Ramon Hernandez)
-Agony (Leslie Gesneria)
-Hybrid (Scott Washington)
-Toxin (Pat Mulligan)
-Venom II (Angelo Fortunato)
-Venom III (MacDonald Gargan)
-Anti-Venom (Edward Brock)
-(Agent) Venom IV (Flash Thompson)
-Scorn (Tanis Nieves)

One of my more ingenious poems, about my favorite subject: SYMBIOTES. The form: A series of four rhyming quatrain stanzas of iambic tetrameter with alternating iambic trimeter (except for the breaks in lines 5 and 13). The poem chronicles the mainstream legacy of the Venom symbiote and its progeny (excluding the Carnage off-shoots with hosts John Jameson and Silver Surfer, and the She-Venom from the Daniel Way Venom run) in order of appearance. Refer to my Venom Family Tree for help on the who's who:

I was inspired not only by my love for Venom and the symbiotes, but also by the "Shakespearean Sonnet With a first line taken from the TV listings" by R.S. Gwynn.

Anyways, this was probably the quickest poem I've ever made. So proud.
