Sculptris: Mad Mummy bust

Description

Yep, here he is. You knew it wouldn't be long before I molded my baby in the wonderwork that is Sculptris. The masked maniac monikered "The Mad Mummy" deserved this, trust me. I deserved this. I just LOVE Sculptris, man.

This piece really tested my artistic and digital comprehension. Both the head and the torso are separate pieces (you can probably tell, though), and that's actually a second incarnation of the head file. I messed the first one up when inserting those wrap slots seen on the left half of his head, and forgot to save as a new file before inserting them, so no matter what I did, he was left with these unsightly scars. I'm actually pleased with the second head sculpt, though, as it's much more anatomically correct and expressive. I'm also pleased with the torso sculpt. It looks pretty decent, eh? That's because I sat with an anatomy book in my lap the entire time I molded it.

Now, to address the obvious flaw in the model: yes, I know the head and neck have a very noticeable seam separating the two. I could not for the life of me figure out how to blend the two objects seamlessly, so NYAH-NYAH SHUT UP! Also, if the back of his head seems too bulky, that's intentional because he's packing long hair under that mask. I didn't include Sculptris-made head wrappings as seen in my drawings because I was repeatedly dissatisfied with the results of my experimentations. I figure that when I print this sucker, I can superglue some cut strips of cloth for the wraps.

Why didn't I just go hog wild and sculpt a full body, you ask (or so I assume you will, to yourself most likely)? Because this was a huge effort all in itself. My computer couldn't handle that kind of work, either. So there.

The Mad Mummy is my own property.
